A project I’ve started working on is a burnout of a motorbike tyre. The simulation is almost finished and I don’t think I’ll be adding much more detail to the wheel as it’s not the focus of this test. But you never know, I’ll probably end up trying to make the entire bike!

The main focus of this project was to create the realistic burnout effect from the spinning tyre. I had to explore various different methods for sourcing the Pyro simulation as in the reference the smoke is moving incredibly fast and it can sometime be quite a challenge to get that to look correct. I decided that the best approach would be to have a very dense, fast moving particle simulation to mimic the deteriation of the rubber, and set the resultant particles alight, hopefullt giving me the desired effect.

Whislt the smoke siim was the main part of the project I used the oppurtunity to practice a few modelling techniques as well as try and work out a system for the rotating bike chain. This actually turned out to be a little bit of a challenge but once I crakced it was rather satisfying.
